You can now get food delivered on trains via WhatsApp, here’s how

Gone are the days of scrambling for overpriced and potentially questionable food options on train journeys in India. Thanks to a recent innovation, passengers can now ditch the mad dash to the pantry car and satisfy their hunger pangs with a quick and convenient WhatsApp message. Here’s how to leverage this exciting new service:

What is it?

This service, a collaboration between IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) and Jio Haptik, allows train passengers to order food directly from their favorite restaurants at upcoming stations through a WhatsApp chatbot.

How to Order

Save the Contact: The first step is to save the dedicated WhatsApp number for Zoop, the food delivery service by IRCTC, on your phone. The number is +91-8750001323.

Initiate the Chat: Once you’ve saved the number, simply open a WhatsApp chat with Zoop. The chatbot will guide you through the process.

Enter Your PNR: The chatbot will ask you to enter your 10-digit Passenger Name Record (PNR) number. This helps Zoop identify your specific journey and available food options.

Browse and Choose: Based on your PNR, the chatbot will display a list of restaurants available for delivery at your upcoming stations. You can browse the menus and select the food items that tempt your taste buds.

Checkout and Payment: The chatbot will seamlessly guide you through the checkout process, allowing you to securely pay for your order using a preferred online payment method.

Track Your Food: Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery! The chatbot will keep you updated on the status of your order, allowing you to track your food in real-time.

Food Delivery: Once your train reaches the designated station, your food will be delivered directly to your seat. No more rushing through crowded corridors or settling for unappetizing snacks!

Benefits of WhatsApp Food Delivery

Important Note

While this service is currently being rolled out progressively, it’s not yet available on all trains or stations. However, with its growing popularity, it’s likely to expand its reach in the near future.

So, on your next train journey in India, ditch the stress of food and embrace the comfort of WhatsApp delivery. With a few taps and a friendly chatbot, a delicious meal awaits you at your next stop!
